Because of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, our program began with a taped recording of our National Anthem sung by the local vocal group, “The Fountainaires”. We stood with hands over our hearts and gazed at our American flag. Upon completion of the National Anthem, we heard a tape featuring our family member, Chester Otto, singing the Lord’s Prayer, solo. It was beautiful.
Judy welcomed everyone. Then we lined up and went through cafeteria style for our food; needless to say the food was ample, plentiful, and delicious. This year the red velvet reunion cake was decorated with a photo of the Hotel Coleman. Elias, the proprietor, and his descendents were recognized in the Coleman Reunion 2001 publication.
